Capsule service door seal and tube restoration

ESV-S03-SOP-02 Crew capsule Simulation procedure

Practise opening, servicing and restoring the capsule service door while coordinating its seal, tube connections and two latches. Recover from a trapped tube condition before release.

Use this procedure to author and assess a controlled simulation with the Crew capsule model, version 3. This is a concept-model training exercise. It does not authorise real hardware work or establish flight qualification.

Before the exercise

Use a cold, unpressurised concept model. Provide an authorised training seal condition, tube routing states and an open door pose. This exercise demonstrates sequence and configuration, not a pressure leak test.

1 Identify the closure system

Model labels: service_bay, door, door_seal

Locate the bay, door and seal. Capture their starting poses and the expected final closure configuration.

Check: All three labels must be selected before the work sequence opens.

2 Confirm safe training conditions

Model labels: capsule, ports_right_a, ports_right_b

Confirm the scenario supplied unpressurised and isolated conditions. Identify the side ports without operating them.

Check: The prerequisite comes from the scenario; no pressure value is inferred from the model.

3 Unlatch and support the door

Model labels: door_handle, door_latch_upper, door_latch_lower

Select the handle, release both latches and set the supported door state. Keep the door from moving until the support acknowledgement is complete.

Check: An unsupported or partly latched opening is blocked.

4 Expose the seal and tube

Model labels: door, hinge_upper, hinge_lower, door_tube

Open the door using its reviewed training animation. Expose the seal and both tube attachment areas without stretching the tube.

Check: Stop if the tube route leaves the declared motion envelope.

5 Isolate the tube connections

Model labels: door_tube_upper_socket, door_tube_lower_socket, door_tube

Match each tube end to its training socket. Record the intended disconnect order before moving the tube to its stowed state.

Check: Swapping the upper and lower socket identities is an assessment error.

6 Remove the closure cover

Model labels: door_cover, door_seal, hatch_cover_lip

Expose the seal using the authored cover access state. Compare the seal and lip against the specified training seating condition.

Check: Only the intended access cover moves; the capsule hatch remains unchanged.

7 Restore the seal seating

Model labels: door_seal, door_cover, door

Move the seal into its authored service state and restore its baseline seating. Refit the cover with the required completion acknowledgement.

Check: A visibly interrupted seating state prevents the next step; actual material limits are supplied separately.

8 Reconnect the tube by identity

Model labels: door_tube, door_tube_upper_socket, door_tube_lower_socket

Return each tube end to its identified socket and restore the routing. Keep both connection events distinct in the evidence record.

Check: Both socket identities and the routing state must agree with the task card.

9 Detect the trapped tube condition

Model labels: door_tube, door, bay_right_lower

Present a tube segment inside the closure envelope. Stop the door, identify the interference and return to the accepted open pose.

Check: Trying to latch through the interference is a critical failure.

10 Correct and verify the route

Model labels: door_tube, bay_right_lower, bay_tube_lower_socket

Apply the reviewed route correction and compare the tube with the bay interface. Repeat the closure envelope check before resuming.

Check: The learner must clear the fault and document the changed route.

11 Close and latch in sequence

Model labels: door, door_latch_upper, door_latch_lower, door_handle

Close the door and engage the two latches in the authored sequence. Confirm the handle and cover return to their saved states.

Check: Door pose, both latch states and tube clearance are independently required.

12 Release the configuration record

Model labels: door_seal, door_tube, door_latch_upper, door_latch_lower

Submit the seating, connection and closure evidence with the interference recovery. Record any separate leak test required by a real programme as outstanding.

Check: The simulation cannot certify pressure integrity from geometry or a completed checklist.

Assessment and completion

Score correct identities 20, isolation and support prerequisites 20, connection sequence 20, trapped tube recovery 25 and closure evidence 15. Unsupported opening or forced closure through interference stops completion.

Authoring and headless handoff

Use only declared training transforms for door and tube movement. Do not infer flexible tube behaviour, seal compression, pressure capacity or hinge limits. The scenario requires explicit connection, seating and latch state records.

Reuse the exact GLB and component identifiers above. Verify the supported Genesis import and binding path; the current Creator scene driver can generate a different model. This document and its JSON describe authoring intent, not completed interactions. Preserve one model revision and record actual lesson, job and review identifiers during execution.
