Two wing deployment with harness snag recovery

ESV-S06-SOP-02 · Earth observation satellite · model v3 · 12 steps

Rehearse a two-wing movement sequence, detect a planted harness conflict and recover to a complete target configuration. Return the satellite to its recorded stowed state for handover.

Concept-model training and authoring specification. Real hardware operations require the programme owner’s approved procedure and engineering limits.

Before the exercise

Use an unpowered ground kinematic exercise. Supply left/right transform groups, pivot positions, movement bounds, intermediate poses and clearance envelopes. The GLB establishes named geometry, not engineered hinge travel, actuator force or an approved deployment sequence.

1 Identify the wing assemblies

Model labels: bus, wing.left, wing.right, support

Select the bus and both wings while leaving the support frame fixed. Save the baseline stow configuration.

Check: Both wing identities and the independent support are recorded.

2 Map the two motion chains

Model labels: hinge.left, wing.left.outer, hinge.right, wing.right.outer

Associate each inner hinge and outer segment with its authored left or right chain. Confirm dependent ordering.

Check: The learner cannot move an outer segment before its configured prerequisite.

3 Check the harness routes

Model labels: harness.left, harness.right, harness.rear.left, harness.rear.right

Compare the four named harness routes with the starting map and load their configured motion-clearance envelopes.

Check: An unresolved route discrepancy prevents deployment permission.

4 Move the left inner wing

Model labels: wing.left, hinge.left, yoke.left

Run the first authored movement to the left intermediate pose and pause at the scheduled hold point.

Check: Accept the selected group, expected pose and recorded pause.

5 Recover from the planted snag

Model labels: harness.rear.left, wing.left.outer, yoke.left.crossbrace

Present a harness conflict at the next movement segment. Stop, identify the route and structural reference and request the recovery branch.

Check: Continuing through the occupied envelope is a critical error.

6 Return to the recovery pose

Model labels: wing.left, hinge.left, harness.rear.left

Move the left assembly back to the declared recovery pose before adjusting the harness route.

Check: The correction remains locked while the assembly is outside its recovery pose.

7 Restore the left harness path

Model labels: harness.rear.left, harness.left, junction.rear

Move the affected route to its approved training path without changing the rear junction or opposite harness.

Check: The corrected path clears the configured envelope and preserves unaffected objects.

8 Complete the left wing sequence

Model labels: wing.left, wing.left.outer, wing.left.outer.hinge

Repeat the accepted inner segment, then move the left outer segment into its target pose.

Check: Record both dependent segments and the resolved snag hold.

9 Deploy the right wing

Model labels: wing.right, hinge.right, wing.right.outer, wing.right.outer.hinge

Run the matching right-side sequence using its own configured chain and target, keeping the left assembly fixed.

Check: The correct side and both right segment states must agree.

10 Compare the final target

Model labels: wing.left.outer, wing.right.outer, dish, mast

Compare the two wing poses with the author targets and check configured clearance from the dish and mast.

Check: Report pose and envelope results rather than relying on apparent symmetry.

11 Return the wings to stow

Model labels: wing.right.outer, wing.right, wing.left.outer, wing.left

Reverse the approved dependency order, returning outer segments before their inner assemblies. Preserve the corrected harness route.

Check: Both baseline stow poses must be restored without reintroducing the snag.

12 Submit the configuration handover

Model labels: hinge.left, hinge.right, harness.rear.left, support

Submit the movement sequence, snag diagnosis, recovery decision and final stow comparison for review.

Check: Completion requires no unresolved hold and a consistent model and task revision.

Assessment and completion

Score chain identification 20, ordered movement 25, snag handling 25, stow restoration 20 and evidence 10. Continuing through the conflict, moving the wrong wing or bypassing the recovery pose is a critical stop.

Authoring and headless handoff

Group meshes explicitly and supply all pivot, path and envelope settings as simulation parameters. Preserve exact part IDs. Dynamics and contact response require separate validated models; a successful animated deployment does not qualify the mechanism or power system.

Reuse the exact GLB and part identifiers. Verify the supported Genesis import and binding path before generation. These are procedure specifications; they do not claim a completed Genesis run.
